Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy FAQ

Psychedelic Somatic Interactional Psychotherapy (PSIP)

  • You can learn more about PSIP here: www.psychedelicsomatic.org

  • PSIP can be used without any medicine, and your first session utilizing the model will be non-medicine so you can get a taste for the work without being in an altered state

  • IFS and expressive arts can be woven into PSIP in various ways

  • Clients can work with self sourced Cannabis or prescribed Ketamine

  • Vaping cannabis is most reliable and preferred for this model

  • Ketamine sublingual (under the tongue) lozenges are preferred for this model

  • Cannabis and Ketamine are seen as “accelerators” of this model

  • Clients do not listen to music with this model as it tends to be much more “interactional” than other forms of psychedelic assisted psychotherapy

  • Clients working through relational trauma/struggles often start to feel a positive shift relating to others around the 10 medicine session mark

  • Clients working through 1-time event traumas often start to feel a shift in reactivity (hypervigilance, specific triggers) around the 3rd medicine session.

  • Integration sessions are not required for this model, but are recommended and can run up to 60 mins

  • Medicine Sessions are two hours in length with a fee of $300 for each medicine session

  • Clients are asked to agree that they will not drive or operate heavy machinery for the rest of the day after a session

  • Clients are asked to find a friend or relative to give them a ride back home from medicine sessions or sign a waiver agreeing that they understand the risks in taking public transit and/or ride shares

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

  • Clients work with Ketamine only in this model

  • IFS and expressive arts can be woven into KAP in various ways

  • Ketamine sublingual (under the tongue) lozenges are used for this model

  • Clients can either be evaluated for a Ketamine script by their current prescriber if they’re comfortable prescribing, a local prescriber I can refer you to or Journey Clinical

  • Clients can check out Journey Clinical here:

  • Medicine sessions are three hours in length with a fee of $450 for a three hour session

  • Many people will begin to feel a positive shift in their connections with their inner landscape and the world around them after 6 medicine sessions

  • Clients will be listening to music that’s chosen specifically for Ketamine journeys during their sessions, and are free to talk as much or as little as they choose

  • Clients often choose to start a K-IFS session by choosing a card from a traditional Tarot or an oracle deck

  • Other energetic and spiritual tools can be used within this model per client’s request including opening ceremonially, clearing and grounding aromatherapy sprays and integrative energy work

  • Anchoring sessions are required for this model since so much of the work involves meaning-making and informed life decisions/direction based on the meaning you are making from your experience

  • Anchoring sessions are scheduled the day after a medicine session and are up to 60 minutes long

  • Integration sessions are recommended and can be scheduled— more specifically looking at how you’re applying what you’ve learned to your daily life

  • Clients are asked to agree that they will not drive or operate heavy machinery for the rest of the day after a session

  • Clients are asked to find a friend or relative to give them a ride back home from medicine sessions or sign a waiver agreeing that they understand the risks in taking public transit and/or ride shares

**Note that all altered state experiences can be very emotionally intense, scary and/or physically grueling. There is also the chance for repressed memories to appear. We will talk quite a lot about this before beginning medicine sessions. In my experience most people have a mildly unpleasant experience and/or a beautifully transformative experience. Death and rebirth experiences are common. I’ve experienced both, both had meaning and have forever changed me in remarkable ways.
